Guess who’s going to Africa!
Here’s some VERY exciting news!!! Caroline Granger (“Elisha” from Hellphone) has been selected to go to Kenya and Tanzania with a team from one.love.movement, May 24-June 24, 2010.
The group will do orphanage work in Nairobi, Kenya. They will be distributing mosquito nets in Moshi, Tanzania (located in the lower slope of Mt. Kilimanjaro) to help prevent malaria.
Caroline needs funding of over $4,000.00. She is looking for 80 folks to donate $50.00 each. However, any amount you give would be greatly appreciated.
Please read Caroline’s letter below. She outlines the mission of the trip and her vision. Thank you for supporting Caroline in this opportunity!
Letter from Caroline Avery Granger
Guess who’s going to Africa! YAY! A dream of mine, come TRUE.
Almost 10 years ago, on a long drive to a job that I hated, worn out, and bitter, I was given a “random” vision that I have kept close to my heart: Little African orphans surrounding my sides, giggling with big, bright smiles. Only now, do I understand what this vision means…..
I have been selected to go to the African Nations of Kenya and Tanzania with a team from one.love.movement May 24-July 13th 2010.
Here are the details:
-Working at orphanages in Kenya and Tanzania.
-We are communicating with Young Life, contact, James Kamau, to solidify plans at Kawah orphanage in Nairobi.
-Our team will also fly to Kissumu and then “bus it” to Kakamega, Kenya. We are partnering with Randy Nikel, in order to get connected with a Kakamega orphanage.
-Distributing mosquito nets to a hospital in Moshi, Tanzania (located in the lower slope of Mt. Kilimanjaro) to help prevent malaria.
-Planning to visit a few Tanzanian orphanages and schools. Photographer Dustin Harper with Ekklesia in Royston, GA is helping us plan out the details.
PLEASE keep us in mind as we make every effort to visit Kakuma Refugee Camp.
Kakuma Refugee Camp is located in the northwestern region of Kenya, and 95 kilometers from the Sudan border.
This camp serves refugees who have been forcibly displaced from their home countries due to persecution. Kakuma Camp serves refugees from Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Uganda, and Rwanda.
According to current UNHCR statistics, the camp population stands at just under 50,000 refugees. In 2007, Kakuma Refugee Camp hosted 21% of the total refugee population in Kenya (UNHCR Fact Sheet, September 2008).
NOW…. all I need is the money to get there. Over $4,000.00. A big chunk of change, for sure.
I am looking for 80 folks to donate $50.00/each. However, any amount you give is greatly appreciated. How cool would it be to be my partner in making a life and eternity changing impact for me and my newfound African friends?
